Problem Definition

No life is
possible on the earth without plants. People need plants to live. When green
plants(seeds) make food, they give off oxygen. This is a gas that all animals,
humans must breathe to stay alive. Without plants, animals would have no oxygen
to breathe and would die. People also depend on seeds for food. Starting from
the grains found in the cereals to orange seeds, we intake plants. Without
plants, the playgrounds, lawns, and gardens would be mere solid ground. Certain
plants have chemicals which when isolated in a lab, can help treat people
suffering from different diseases. There would also be no rain without trees.
Due to huge buildings most of the trees are cut-off. Trees shield children from
ultraviolet rays (skin cancer). CO2 from vehicles increases air pollution.
Pollution through chemical industries. Increasing CO2 in the ozone layer is
harmful.

The main
objective of seed production is rapid multiplication of the newly released or
commercially available varieties by maintaining the varietal identity and
genetic purity that represent the plant population created through breeding and
characterized by certain heritable morphological, biological, and agronomic.

The SEED Project will:

- be open and responsive to community needs, always seeking to
enhance development by educating, demonstrating, facilitating, evaluating, and
monitoring.

- engage community members in understanding community issues and
responsibilities, including economic, social, and environmental, in order that
they can determine and take the appropriate courses of action.

- work with each community for a time, defined on entry, realistic
for establishing the work, after which the partner(s) will take full
responsibility for the continuation of the project.

- provide/facilitate Community Development Worker training so that
communities can have locally based Community Development Workers in their midst
- people who understand their background and their situation.

- help people to raise start-up funding for self-help projects and
training.

- network with representatives from a variety of fields (e.g.,
education, health care, social services, housewives, government, religious
groups, utilities, economic development practitioners, citizen groups...) to
share knowledge, skills, and experience.
